I had UTI's as a baby. Ended up I had kidney reflux. Urine backs up into the kidney, infecting it. IT's fairly common, but most kids grow out of it. I was the unlucky who had to have surgery at 16. I'm 27 now, and have an occassional UTI. To this day I take macrobid or augmentin to prevent bacterial infections. It in no way affects my daily living, though.

my friend and i both have 11 week olds and hers just recovered from a UTI at 6wks. drs put it down to not enough breast milk and she dehydrated... dont know where you are, but has been extremely hot here in WAust and that had contributed to it. mum not producing enough either.. so much to her dismay, she stopped feeding and put her on formula and now both doing great.. i am still feeding mine, and have noticed that in hot weather, he wants to snack to keep his fluids up... must keep reminding myself of this, as its easy to make them wait the 3 hours til next time....
if you give formula, make sure you are giving bub enough boiled water to keep him/her well hydrated as formula is not watery enough like breastmilk...
good luck!!!
