We are trying to plan a trip for our 12th anniversary and it is October 7. It has been difficult for us to plan a special trip and when I thought we would go with Jamaica, I discovered that October is within their rainy/hurricane season. We are usually mountain people and just thought it would be fun to do something different. It's okay if it rains a little, but we don't want it to be a complete rainout. If Jamaica is a bad idea...any thoughts?

I would not recommend Jamaica - it's not the safest place in the Caribbean to go to. Try Antigua, St. Lucia or even Grenanda.

hope u do go sumtime its a place worth spendin money to go to !

If u do go u must chek out the bob marley musem its great n really educational. Also do go to dunns river even if u cant climb up alone there are guides to help u or maybe u can jus chill out at the beach. The locals are friendly and the food is fantanstic !!!!!!! I had a great time and would love if every1 got to go to Jamaica sometime.

by the way even though it rained it was hot so dnt forget sun lotion :)

Hey I'm going to Jamaica for the 2nd time the 1st week in April for my 5 year anniversary. The 1st time I went was the 1st week of December 2001 for my honeymoon.
I believe that hurricane season was our summertime so you should be fine by October but check with some travel agents who have been there. While you're there you gotta go to Dunn's River Falls and St. Anne's Parish (Bob Marley's moselem).
Good luck and have fun mon!

Why is it that people like "Mark W" always make it seem as though Jamaica is sooo dangerous, as if there aren't any drug addicts in America (manufacturer!!!) and other parts of the world.
Of course Jamaica has drugs, ain't denying it, but it ain't all that bad as you make it seem Mark, I'm sure there are potential danger spots where u live also.

October is one of the most active months in the hurricane season....but in 2006 Jamaica had no hurricane during that period, so i guess you can chance it, but there is no guarantee that there wont be one, in 2005 we had 3......

possibly, it somewhat is been a LOOONG 3 days, yet i assume there could have been followers with return and forth plans, and in the event that they switched it may screw all of it up. Granted it somewhat is a small sort of persons. Plus, you could by no ability know with the basketball playoff time table if it may additionally be plausible to pass it. What if, via some miracle, the Rangers and the Knicks had the two gotten this far? I agree that once that SJ-Dallas recreation, they ought to have moved some up, even purely sooner or later. yet while that wasn't an wonderful recreation, could it nevertheless make a distinction? super question in a sea of boredom!

While hurrican season runs from May to November, I think you are safe for October. I travel to the Caribbean during September and October ONLY because the tourists are gone, the weather is cooler and the humidity is down.

You may get an afternoon or early morning shower but that is quite normal for the islands.

Jamaica is beautiful, you will love it.

I don't think it would be a big mistake in fact hotel rates are cheaper at that time of the year. and the sun is just the right temperature. all you have to do it pray that there's no hurricane at while you are here. however not a bad idea come on down enjoy our island and bring a friend or few

Just wanted to let you know not to listen to all these people thats are telling you how horrible and dangerous Jamaica is. Ive been there a couple of times and it is by far my favorite place to vacation. Me and my girlfriends walked all over outside in public by ourselves and we were perfectly fine. Its goregous and doesnt have anymore drugs and things then anywhere else in the world.
