You are right your life is meaningless unless you derive meaning from life. You sound like a man that is devoid of basic self-appreciation of self-love. Every man and woman must accept their own divinity and work do discover their true talents and gifts. When you start liking that you are amazing, not in an arrogant way, others people begin to see you in the same light.

I felt as you do lonely and individuated from others. I had to learn my life conditions were a reflection of my own internal thoughts and feelings. As a man thinketh so his he. Yes it is this simple but many want to make mental change far more complicated than it is. It is not out of your ability to learn, to improve, and to change. What comes first the chicken of the egg? It doesn't matter either way we get a chicken. What does this mean to you? You can change your thoughts first or you can change your actions first. Either way you will have change that will become measurable in the world.

Life is a process that takes time and work to create in us something special that we can internally own. Take a long hard look at you. Be totally honest about what you see. From this observation take the time to really take stock in your own abilities. None of this I am not worthy crap. That will send you down the wrong path. You are now an adult and no long at the mercy of you past even if it is a terrible past. You have the power to make you into whatever you can realistically accept.

You can only start from where you are. By admitting your true position in life you can start taking real steps to building you into whatever you like. Start learning the language of self-realization. You can’t solve a problem at the same level that created it. This means you have some learning to do. Me I started reading all the self-help books I could get my hands on. When I started this journey many extraordinary people came into my life and assisted me on my path to discovery. Let me let you in on a little secret: people in the know will not waste their time with you until they can see in your eyes a true desire to improve your life. Take responsibility for your own life's success.

Sure it's enough to just exist, but why would you want to do that? Why not start out by taking a night class in something that really interests you...something that you'd like to know the most about. Classes are a fantastic way to meet people with common interests.

If you'd prefer not to take it at a college, then search through your local newspaper. They sometimes run ads for adult continuing education. That way, you're not bound to any college, at the higher prices. Continuing education classes are usually a shorter duration, and if it's not what it seemed to be and does nothing for you, then you're not bound to a grade point average either.

I'm 57 and I had gone back to college at 53 years old. Of course I did carry a major (law enforcement) and received my degrees and certificate, but it was a lot of work.

When you find a subject of interest, and there are others there with those same interests, that is a great foundation to start friendships. If it is a subject you catch onto quickly, or faster than others, you could be a great help to them. Many lasting friendships have begun this way. Life isn't all about money, or all the 'in things' that you can take part in; it's about finding people who are in agreement with the issues you hold most dear. Give it a try. Believe me, I had so much fun in college even though it was hard work, I made many lasting friendships that I will always cherish. If it worked for me, it will work for you as well. BTW...I'm also alone. I do have children and grandchildren, but I don't get to see them all the time because we all work at different times. And I live with my ex for now, but he and I don't carry on conversations unless it's about the kids. He's very anti-social. So, alone....yeah...and it hurts very badly sometimes, but I've found my way and you will too.

Then why don't YOU make something worthwhile? Life isn't a "sentence". It's an experience. And how it's lived- is WHAT you get out of it! Every thing you DO, SAY, TOUCH & AFFECT- has ramifications FAR beyond your notice. What you HAVE- is relatively unimportant... It's what you're DOING with your life- that's changing the course of time. Reach out- & DO something with your time here... -It doesn't matter too much what it IS- as long as it makes you happy, and doesn't hurt anyone else. Good luck! :)

That is sad, I have a child and a husband but sometimes you need other friends as well, try making a friend that you could talk to over the internet or that is in your town. I know it sounds cheesy, but sometimes someone to talk to can make all the difference

It is enough I think. But I also think that you should live - love & laugh. ;O)
Live~do the things that you like to do
Love~those around you in everyday life
Laugh~see the humor
By doing this,,it can open doors for you.
Negative thinking creates negativity.Your standards may be a little high but thats ok too,,to be choosy as to who your best friends or lover may be.Well,,did you ever hear the saying,,smile at the world & it will smile back. ;O)

You just answered your own question. It's not enough to just exist. Existence preceeds essence. We have to find our essence, our reason for existing, to give life meaning.
