yes, have you?

he made the world a better place or something. he is one of those glorified people like Martin Luther King because he fought publicly for his cause. Sometimes people become so glorified to the point that the reality of their impact is blurred -- Gandhi is sometimes in this category.

Maybe you should watch the movie yourself in order to answer your homework questions. But if this helps:
The movie really stresses Ghandi's involvement with the independence movement of India from Britain, and was nicknamed the Father of the Indian Nation. He achieved the Indian independence with the resistance of tyranny by non-violent means. The movie shows his involvement with the Indian National Congress where Gandhi campaigned for the alleviation of poverty, liberation of women, brotherhood among different people, and the end of the cast system. This clearly differing from his wealthy upbringing and education in Britain. I think that the movie did a great job in showing the conditions in India at the time, though very much recorded with the romantic school of thought. The movie didnt really show Gandhi's life as well as it could have, compared to how Mel Gibson showed the life of Chirst in his movie, but it did show a bit about Gandhi himself. The part I didnt like was in reference to his assassination in 1948, as it didnt really Godse as the Hindu Mahasabha extremist that he was. It would have also been nice to get more information on what was presented in the movie about the choice of the spreading of the ashes over the major rivers of the world, like the Nile, Volga, Thames.

Basically, you know how we fought a war to gain independence from England? Well, he led a revolution against England that gained India it's independence without violence.
As for the guy who jumped on the train, it's been too long since i've seen it. It seems like it might have been Ghandi. He was a lawyer. He either moved away for school then moved back, or after school he moved there. Been awhile, but I kinda think it was him... really not sure though, it's been too long.
