Your operating system is defective. I recommend replacing
it with one of:

http://www.debian.org

Haha, although I like Elana's answer, the Vista upgrade advisor is essentially telling you that Windows Vista is so screwed up, you shouldn't be trying to run it on ANY machine that's already got a fully functional Windows XP OS. Wait about 6 months, then decided whether you want to make the switch to Vista; it might actually be usable by then.

I had various problems on Microsoft.com until I lowered my security on their sites. Add these to the Trusted Sites zone in IE:
http://*.update.microsoft.com
http://*.windowsupdate.microsoft.com
https://*.update.microsoft.com
http*.update.microsoft.com
http://*download.windowsupdate.com
After you do that, lower the security settings for this zone to the lowest it can go. If this does not solve your problem, your copy of XP Pro might be pirated or somehow corrupt.

Try this link out, it should work fine, and this site is free to use.....
Just install the active X, you may need to turn off your firewall and antivirus if it doesnt work for you.....Once the test has run, then restore your firewall and antivirus.....
