I don't feel like college is right for me. I feel as if i am wasting time and energy being here. I feel like there something out there that I should pursued. Can anyone help me in finding my way? A lot of time I just want to start a business and work hard for that business. I feel that is the one thing in my life that will make me happy, but I am hesitant to do it? I don't know what to do with my life anymore. One thing that I know for sure is that I don't want to be in college, and that I want something more out of life.

i am never going to trade school for sure. I rather stay in college than go in trade school. If i were to get out of college it has to be something that will outweight the cost of going to college

First you need to figure out what you want to be, do for the rest of your life...Maybe a trade school is better for you, it takes less time. If you want to start your own business, then research different opportunities, talk to people in those fields...

College really isn't about wanting. It's about preparing.

You cannot waste time learning. The knowledge that you take from college can be applied to all areas of business.

Composing letters, emails, presentations, financials, computer work.

Not to mention that when you study you are excersizing the brain muscle. So like every other bit of exercize it can be unpleasant. The best results of exercize are realized at the point when it is unpleasant. I would suspect the same to be true with education.

In business and most of the rest of life it is rarely the right decision to surrender when it is difficult, rather there is almost always a greater payoff of the hardship, if only to prove for yourself once again that you can succeed despite adversity.

This is probably the most important tool a businessman will ever have. Finish school. No one says you have to do it in ONE shot. Get a job and take some credits.

I didn't finish until I was 26 and sometimes I want to go back to give myself another challenge.

By the way, I hung in there when I was wondering the same thing and I'm doing 6 figs now !!!

College isn't right for everyone. When I graduated high school, I didn't want to go to college. I went out and joined the working world. In some ways, I'm glad that I waited. I am taking classes now that are working towards a degree I am sure that I want. In other ways, I sometimes think, I could have been done with school already...If you feel college isn't right for you at this point in time, it may not be. Take a break, you may have the urge to go back later. However, with work w/o a college degree, the pay stinks. you just have to evaluate your options. Can you get thru college and get a good paying career? Do you even know what you want to do for sure? Are you willing to deal with a lower paying job? Just do what you think is right. College will always be an option...just realize that it's not the only one. I wish you all the luck on life!

If you're not sure what you want out of life, I recommend staying in college. If you're interested in running your own business eventually, then take business courses now. If you had a path chosen for yourself, I would encourage you take a chance at it. But seeing as you don't hav a clear vision for your future, you will likely benefit from additional education. Aside from the business courses, fill your course schedule with other topics you find interesting. This can help you find your strengths and weaknesses. It may even help you figure out which direction to go with your life. If not, you'll still be a more well-rounded person for the effort.
Good luck.

I dont know how old you are, but i actually reccomend putting college off. Its a lot of money to spend to get nothing out of since you have no idea what you want to do with your life, much less how to do it. I would reccomend doing what the British call a "Gap Year." Basically take a year off and go live in a foreign country. If you are outside the US, you could come to USA and work and live. If you are in the US, go to Spain, or UK or Australia, and live and work for a year. Or go to another state far from where you live. There are hundreds of programs out there. It sure changes your perspective when you really have to work to make it. Meet new people. Put up with other culteres new to you, etc... IN this new world of globalisation, it will give you a leg up, and I think soon it will be necessary for success.

(Go be a lifeguard in Australia!!!)

Try out a technical school. I know that more school doesn't sound good. But with most technical schools you are done within a year, which is alot better than 4 years in college. Also if you want to start your own business, you need to master some kind of skill, and also you have to have money to put into your business.

Just a suggestion. No matter what you do you need more than just the important desire. Get SOME type of training. Because the days of going to trade school, getting a comfortable union job with great benefits are gone forever. Maybe you should stick with college.

I went to college last for a year and decided it wasn't right for me too. I was extremely bored and didn't feel motivated by any field of study. I'd love to start my own business, but don't know how to go about it...I mean I don't exactly have money pouring out of my ears, you know? If you figure it out, let me in too... ; )
