already there are good tips and author would like that you try them. they are simple. Honey is a strong anti-biotic. ginger is pungent and cleans the sticky throat. you may add 1/4 tsp turmeric also as an anti-biotic.
In case everything suggested fails, i suggest a stronger remedy.
1/2 tsp acorous calamus, 1/4 tsp akalkara powder, 1/4 tsp peeper longum powder, 1/2 tsp aswgandha powder, mix together and lick in honey 3 times a day. This mixture cleanses the nerves carrying signal to vocal chord.
Ready formulation known as "Khadiradi Gutika" or "Khadiradi Vati" will help if there is infection of the throat, boils, reddish swelling etc. good luck.

A herbal medicine that helps is brewed ginger. ^^ Bring filtered/clean water (not tap) to a boil (about three-four cups) and then drop a whole peeled ginger and then bring it to a boil again. Then, you can have it as a drink for the day. No cold water drinks allowed. ^^
Or, peel a piece of ginger (candy size) and keep it in your mouth just like a candy, sucking it. ^^ Throw it away when the "flavor" is gone. ^^
AVOID: sweets (chocolates and candies), OTC (over the counter) mouthwash - it may irritate your mouth, making it dry
DO: To cleanse your mouth, gargle with warm salted water when you wake up in the morning, and after meals, and brush teeth and tongue after meals with a soft bristled toothbrush ^^
Hope this helps you. ^^
