You can begin by thinking things through more thoroughly. Think before you speak, basically.

There are several 'rules' of logic to follow, but one of the best things to do is educate yourself on the many fallacies of logic and put into practice avoiding them. This, alone, will dramatically increase your logical skills and will allow you to produce more sound arguments.

I'm attaching a link to a resource that contains a large amount of information on these fallacies, including examples.

Use your power of reason...be very honest with yourself. Look at your motivations, and become as self-aware as possible. It seems that a lot of the time we forget that we have the ability to reason, and we don't use our logic, but I think that the key is really being honest in our thinking...being logical is also being responsible for our thoughts and behaviors and actions and decisions. If I know that I am going to have to be accountable for every choice that I make(at least somewhere down the road), I am going to be a lot more logical in my view of things and in the choices I make.
It is really a matter of the attitude you have about life. Be pro-active and take control of your situations and you will find yourself being pretty logical, or pretty miserable. The choice is all yours.

A course in logic at a university. I took two. One was the practical side, which was interesting, and the other was the theoretical side, which sucked ***.
