I have a 2001 Chevy Malibu 60,000 miles. The coolant "low" light started to appear and after looking at the tank my coolant is indeed low. I never had the coolant flushed, do i have to have my coolant flushed or can i just buy a gallon of DEX COOLANT and just start adding it to the tank? thank you

i own a repair shop, and all you need to do at this point on it just add to the tank on it,but don't over fill it,this will cause it to just throw it out if there's too much in it,there is line on it that says full when hot,and above it or below it, it says full when cold, fill it to that line according to where its at,and if the engine is cold or hot,and it should be OK,maybe later on this year you might want to get it flushed out,but its not uncommon for one to get low once in a while,as long as its not everyday or a few times a week it should be OK,if it starts loosing a lot of it,have it pressure checked ,other wise you should be ok with this one, good luck i hope this helps.

you do no longer point out what motor vehicle you have, or why you're mandatory to function coolant, yet you won't have the capacity to pass incorrect with a 50/50 blend and including just to what individuals nonetheless call the overflow resevoir. Your coolant device is merely going to take what it needs from the resevoir. merely upload to the chilly fill line each and each morning till you do no longer ought to function to any extent further. desire this facilitates.

You can just add a 50/50 mix of dexcool and water to the overflow tank. The overflow tank has a level sensor in it that tells you when it gets too low.

Also, check for leaks.
