Which type of yarn would make a good knitted blanket: Wool or Worsted weight?

Worsted weight refers to the thickness of the yarn, not the fiber, so why not use worsted weight superwash wool? If you choose the right fiber, it'll be soft, warm, and machine washable.

wool will probably be warmer but if it is a gift you better find out if the recipient is allergic to wool.
