Does taking Cipro (a UTI anti-biotic) effect the effectiveness of the Depo-Shot? (500mg twice a day)

I don't think it does, but if you are worried use a secondary form of BC. I know that Amoxicillin does, but it is in a complete different class of antibiotics. Call your pharmacist in the morning. Also, read the literature and your axillary labels to be sure.

I was on the depo shot for almost 4 years and in that time i did take infections pills (amoxil,cipro) and i never did get pregnant. I never did worry over it because my doctor did not say it would.

If you are concerned ask your pharmacist or doctor.

Whenever on antibiotics and b/c always use a back up form just to be on the safe side...Antibiotics are known to lessen the effectiveness of b/c....Good Luck!

I would use a second form if you are concerned......but i really think it just affects the pill.

i herd any antibiotic can affect the pill or anything i would make him use a condom until you have finished.
