I'm part cherokee and comanche indian and i would like to get a tattoo on my right shoulder blade of a native american(i would prefer a woman since my closest native american ancestor was a woman and I am a woman too). Whenever I type in stuff like "portraits of native americans" in a search engine like google, i can't find what i'm looking for! Please help me! Thanks!

The Edward Curtis photographs mentioned above are not culturally accurate. Just an FYI.

Below are links posted with pictures of Native woman from those tribes.
But just a suggestion. Why not use a symbol that represents your tribe instead of a full woman? Like a medicine wheel that represents your tribes culture. If you want more info. on how to get this info. e-mail me at NatashaChandiJoseph@gmail.com

Links to woman photos.
Comanche:
(you can just type in comanche woman (or comanche women) in google and then click on images)

Cherokee:
(go to google type in Cherokee woman or Cherokee women and then click on images)

Keep plugging this word into search engines until you find what you are looking for because I myself have native american tattoos in the style known as 'GITKSAN'. It is particularly associated with the tribes of the Pacific Northwest and often the basis of totems./

Here is one design of GiTKSAN that I created and is similiar to many Gitksan images. I actually have a GITKSAN coloring book made for tribes.

Just keep plugging the word GITKSAN into wikipedia, and google and this may lead you to the type of images you are researching.

Good luck.

I agree, a symbol is a good idea. If a person, I would go more with art that is of a fictional person...not an actual photograph, as that just seems odd the idea of putting someone else's family member on you...

If someone put my grandmother on them via a tattoo because they wanted something to connect to an ethnicity, that would just be odd and not appreciated...
