Honestly, I don't prefer any mass-produced computer. It seems to be better (and less expensive) to build a nice gaming computer (2 hard drives, custom case, RAM etc..) for $2000 and know exactly what you are getting rather then get a pre-boxed thing that you have a vague, if at all idea of what you are getting. But if it a must that you buy the computer, I personally perfer Apple, although they are working towards the other companies. Best thing to do (assuming that you are runnig Microsoft OS) is to put Linux (or freespire; red rat;fedora;etc) on it. By doing that you will have less of a chance of getting a virus, considering the whole layout of the coding is different...just a suggestion

Well, Gateway computers used to be much further "under par" than they are now. i think they have come a long way and now produce a very good product. eMachines, their sibling company, I cannot say the same. Though they are a great deal, they are a great deal for a reason.....quality.
In short, Gateway rates around a 7 out of 10 in my book. I agree.
