know of any record/cd stores around the SD area that have good non-mainstream music? One that has mainly a good metal and punk collection as well as a extensive range of other genres of music.

Lou's Records in Encinitas (see answer above) is a great place to go! They have new and used records, cd's, as well as cassette tapes and videos. They have all genre's--you can even buy record player needles! The used stuff is like used bookstores--you never know what you'll find, (unlike new stores where they only have what's put out this week) and the prices are great!
