For any hockey fans, if you pay attention to the games, you will see the players benches are always on the top of the screen, meaning the cameras are on the other side of the building. Except for Edmonton Oilers games, where the cameras are onthe same side as the benches. Is this something from the WHA days? Is it something the architect wanted to do different?

It has nothing to do with Canada broadcasting from the other side. My seats at the Saddledome are 10 rows behind the camera bank and I am looking directly at the players benches. Most likely it is either because of the age of the buliding (built in 1974) and they didn't care where they put them, or they didn't see a need to move them during the recent renos. Basically, I don't think there was any true reason for the cameras to be on the same side.

i've got been to quite some video games at Rexall placed up lockout. to date the desirable seats have been between the hashmarks and ringette line interior the corners, interior the 10th row or larger, decrease bowl.. You get a depraved view of ice, you are able to for sure here the gamers yelling, and you have no longer have been given the retards who get up mid play to stroll around.

This is because during construction of the building they did not know or did not care where the cameras were going to be located .

Because we Canadians are master of the ice and we rule it with an IRON FIST, the fans are curious to see "who's in the penalty box now?"
I don't really know, just joking by the way.

Maybe they figured its better to see what its like from the bench side? who knows I'm sure they have cameras opposite the bench as well.

in Canada all the games are broadcast from behind the player benches looking toward the penalty boxes, in the u.s they are broadcast from behind the penalty boxes looking towards the player's benches, hence the opposing camera views, not sure why though
