rear seal on the engine is leaking and as gravity being the way it is; it's dripping down the fly wheel into the starter by way of the gears which make contact with the fly wheel. Only other way would be that you have a engine leak at the heads or value cover and the oil is dripping onto the starter and from there finding it's way into the starter. I would guess; main rear seal at fly wheel is leaking. Is it engine oil or transmission fluid? could be a leak from the seal on the torque converter..

The rear main seal of the engine is leaking, as the oil leaks the centrifugal force of the flywheel spinning throws the oil in to the starter housing. if you poured oil out of the starter I would have the seal replaced as soon as possible because it will take out the starter again or worse totally blow out dumping all the oil out.

the only way i think oil could get inside the starter is if it somehow leaked onto the pinion gear that comes out of the starter to turn the flywheel and whenever you let go of the ignition switch it pulls back into the starter and maybe the oil gets inside it like that.

Most likly a leaking rear main seal. will cause oil to leak down between the engine and transmission, where the starter connects to the fly wheel (when being engaged).

probably an oil leak on the back of the engine where the tranny bolts up, so when the engine is running it sprays oil across the flywheel, into the starter. just a guess, i really dont know.
