Hopefully you have a textbook or class notes or something that explains what those two theories are in detail. You should be sure you use those. The Wikipedia article on "Conflict Theory" is decent I think, but the one on "Structural functionalism" is kind of confusing.

To answer last part of the question, you have to think carefully about your family / work / school / circle of friends / etc. probably taking each one of them at a time. Think about the different roles that each person in your life plays. Do some people have power over you, and do you think this is good or bad? Does everyone in your family (or school or company) benefit from being a part of it, or do some people benefit significantly more then others? If you understand the two theories, and then you are able to answer these questions about your life, the last part will be easy.

Good luck!

Structural function and social conflict are both the attempt to correct the wrongs and/or make addendums to our civilizations and cultures. Start with the definition for compare, contrast and paradigm.
Compare: to examine for similarities or differences
Contrast: to compare so as to point out the differences (a person or thing showing differences when compared with another)
Paradigm: a generally accepted concept that explains a complex idea.
A simple concept to examine is the make-up of your neighborhood and/or any neighborhood. Go from there. Good luck!

Wow, tough assignment. Neither is a very correct depction. This compare contrast is flawed to begin with. Hard to right a good paper from a crappy and flawed "question."

The good news: the profession probably has no idea what he wants, so anything will do. Just bash the president or the troops, I hear that'll get you an A at most universities.

Just start with a firm understanding of the social side, and then move into the structural side.

As you transition, try to explain ou hypothesis.

Look into China from 1948 to today. You will find everything you need on the net.
The best part is that you can BS everyone about the road blocks that the communist party put in your way.
