I have a small dwarf hamster who seems smaller or skinnier than the rest. Is that normal, or could he be a runt?

He is in his own cage, and seems to eat as much as the others. He looks even smaller than he is cause my other two go around with their cheeks stuffed with food, and he almost never has foods in his cheeks, unless I happen to catch him when he is transferring the new food to his secret spot. He looks healthy, just is small and hasnt gotten really fat the way the other two have. I am kind of worried that the siliver one is getting too big, but he is seems just generally big for a winter white. thanks!

he is probably the runt. All this means is that he was the first one created, last one out, and had the least amount of nutrients inutero. He will be fine, and remember as long as he eats healthy and drinks there is nothing to worry about.

I use to have hamsters long time ago, but i would say if he was the last two born hes probdly a runt or may be a birth defect in the litter.

The hamster most likely is the runt of his/her litter. If you want to give him a little bit of extra help, you can feed it a mix of small animal vitamins and evaporated milk (not condensed; carnation is good) out of an eyedropper.

Just make sure he is getting a share of the food. If he isnt you might want to put him in his own cage for a while each day so he can get all the food he wants.

Probably, once i recieved a small hamster, he was really little and thin too, he died 3 days later. You shouldn't get hamsters that look unhealthy.
