You reap what you sow. When people are focused only on themselves they tend to have a poorer quality of relationships with others and I think it impacts the core of their being. I think we need really good relationships to thrive, and self-centeredness poisons relationships.
Conversely, giving and compassionate people have their souls refreshed in the process of giving and they reap the reward of feeling better about themselves and having more depth in their relationships.

Philanthropists, compassionate people, and empathetic people are happier, as they are contributing something to people in need. Egotistical and self-centered people can be miserable because their entire world revolves around themselves--doesn't make for happiness...

the first group of ppl u described are selfish and greedy and therefore can never be satisfied b/c they'll always want something more, soemthing greater, something better, so nothing satisfies them.
the 2nd group of ppl are elated with the little things in life, they dont need a lambhorghini to make them jappy. they don't need material things to make them happy. they are selfless, atlruistic heroes that only need ppl's happiness to make them happy. if your happy, then the 2nd group will be happy. but the first group won't give a d@mn b/c why wuld they care abt u if they only care abt themselves?
egotistical ppl need materialistic and superificial things to provide them wtih artificial happiness while philantrhopic and compassionate ppl need humanity to provide them with real happiness and bliss.

What a great question! the reason is that each of us is born with gifts to serve not only ourselves but others too.The more we give, the more we receive, not always but most of the time. The opposite is also true. Can you imagine what this world would be like if we each used our goodness to serve our fellow men instead of having the "what's in it for me?"attitude.

They expect so much of them selves, and can't keep up to their own expectations. They always feel like they're failing.
Us guys on the other hand, don't give a hoot as long as we're loved and happy.

Their values are wider, their concerns give meaning to their lives, they are not trapped within themselves, other people value them, they have a source of fulfillment, they also tend to be intelligent and thus successful, they may have deep religiousity and are thus spiritually nourished. Many, many reasons, really.

The Ego - stands for "I". which is their own happiness comes first. Doesn't mean they are miserable, just means that they are not interested in the world or the people in it, which makes you think they are miserable, because they and you see things the opposite.

particular...i do use the three of them as a self-protection mechanism, to safeguard my own self-nicely worth and vanity. in the different case, he won't fee me as a individual anymore...and cope with me no longer in basic terms like a puppy canines, yet like a despicable homeless stray canines by skill of the roadside!!!
