obviously, a healthy diet is always the best way to go. not eating more than 2000 calories, drinking lots of water, increasing the amount of fruits and vegetables you eat. i recommend against fad diets and "cleansing" diets (the ones that have you eat nothing but fruits/vegetables or having only water all day). they put a strain on your body and have no real long term positive effects on your weight.

yoga is a great way to get leaner and more in shape. take a beginner class and slowly work your way up to 3-4 classes a week. i started going twice a week, then moved to 3 after a year, and finally am taking 4 classes a week. that's all my schedule will allow. i also do yoga at home. what you don't want to do is jump into yoga hard and heavy just so you can lose weight fast. you won't. your body will start shifting (muscles will become leaner and closer to the body). i never lost any weight but dropped 4 dress sizes, i am much stronger and leaner.

There is no "best" way to loose weight other than cutting your calories (to a certain extent) and adding exercise. There are as many ways to do that as there are dieters and what works for one person might not work for you.

That said your plan to eat a better diet and add exercise in the form of yoga is an excellent start.

If you want some help or need more information along the way I highly recommend http://www.sparkpeople.com/. It's totally free and has tons of resources to help dieters along. I'm 20 pounds down by using ideas from their and holding it off for nearly a year now.

i have been doing baba ramdev's yoga since 1 year and i guess i know enough to answer ur question...and the best part u have urself answered ur own Question...regular yoga for atleast 1-2 hours along with balanced diet is an awesome combo to maintain ur physique.
With yoga u have work outs for toning every body part...for example for a pot belly..there r exercises like kapaalbharti, agnisaar, cycling (yoga style) and a zillion more which will cut down ur fat. i Suggest u buy a cd of ramdev's yoga or watch india tv in mornings..they air baba ramdev instructing yoga steps on tv.

if u can manage then add it all wid some brisk walking..and after sometime you'll definitely notice a change...thats a guarantee!!
