does anyone think if Oprah was a thin white woman would she be as powerful and famous as she is?

I dont think that she would because part of what makes her unique IS her history.
IF she were a white woman then she would not have had the trials and tribulations that gave her the drive to do what it is that she does....
if she were skinny, the fat stay at home moms would be pissed at her like they are at kelly ripka (sp)
Her weight gave her a unique opportunity to reach so many people....
I love her
and loved the show that she did about the kids in Africa that she made a school for
it was awesome.
I shudder to think what will happen when she retires....
I can remember when Donahue was the only show in town...now its like donnaWHO?
This is why I was soo glad to see her building a legacy.....

No, but maybe close. Half the reason she is famous is because of what she achieved as a black woman in the times she achieved it. Though not in the times of Rosa parks and such, she was a black woman crossing racial barriers (being a talk show host and such).

her weight loss was the icing on the cake...if she was always thin...I'd think it would have taken longer
