I'm not from England, I'm Australian. I follow Man U, have done so for many years and I have never pretended to be from anywhere other than where I am. If people do maybe it's because they won't feel accepted. Who knows, I don't think where you are from has naught to do with your love for a club.

You haven't a clue have you? I've been a United fan since the day I was born. And that was within ear-shot of the bells of the Holy Name church. My dad was born and raised in Salford. There are perhaps hundreds of thousands of us United fans from Manchester. But not all Man United fans have been so lucky as to have been born there.

Anyway, who do you actually know who pretends to come from Manchester? Its probably just a case of wishful thinking.

I live in Norway now and the people here follow english football with a passion. In the 70's they began showing live english games, so a lot of Norwegians began supporting Liverpool, as they were successful and played good football (back then that is). Now there's third generation supporters. You can even encounter such oddities as a family of Wolves supporters, who've never even been to England. The norwegian branch of the Lfc supporters club has a lot more members than any of the domestic supporters club. This support of foreign clubs used to irritate me, but you cannot ignore their passion and love. You cannot dismiss someone as not being a true fan solely on the reasons of the geographical accident of birth. It is undying love and the innate feeling of belonging that counts.

I'm hoping for a Utd v 'pool final.

Idiot. They dont all pretend they come from Manchester. Isnt it funny when they interview people outside Anfield that along with that horrible scouse twang, there is a lot of cockney, brummy, West Country and other accents. Fact is silly boy that in this country we have a democracy and people are allowed to make thier own minds up. Big clubs like United, you scouse idiots, Arsenal and Chelsea attract support from all over. Its such a stupid statement, why should anyone "pretend" they come from anywhere. Like some of the other comments, at least they are not from Merseydive.
And thats from a proper Manc who has supported United since the 60's. Go and bury your biased jealous head back in the sand you prat. As long as we beat you each year, that'll do me.

I do not and never have pretended to come from Manchester, but that does not mean I have never been to Old Trafford to watch a Football Game, or that I have never gone to an away game of Football. Or are you saying you cannot Support a Football Club unless you live where the Club is.

Don't believe they do.It wouldn't be possible for all the Man U fans worldwide to reside in Manchester there's just far too many.
My family travelled when was kid I lived in Yorkshire,Lancashire,Bristol and London.
There was plenty of clubs to choose from, but nowhere had the impact that the Theatre of Dreams had.
Even when United were in the second division the support was phenomonal.
Obviously with the unrivalled success of recent years there is bound to be jealousy and shouts of glory hunters.
Well it's great to be part of something that has glory, history and so much potential!

Wow you've really spoken to ALL the Man U fans? No, I thought not, I was Born in Manchester, but really don't give a fig where our supporters come from, good taste knows no geographical bounds. Are you one of these idiots who bleat on about only supporting your local team? Put your dummy back in and go and have a brew
