You know how when ur friend is upset you want to comfort her right?

well its hard for me, in a normal situation I could make her laugh and stuff, but the minute she's feeling downright sad I freeze up. Cuz i know that one wrong word I can make her feel worse.

All I can do is to nod and agree with her and stop talking then my friend looks at me weirdly and say i should act normal BUT its HARD!! I mean i don't want to say or do somthing that will make her more upset!

any ideas on how to not freeze up and act normal and know what i can and cannot say in those situations??

plz reply need help

i think when someone is upset, the best thing to do is just be there and listen, u are doing the right thing, u dont have to look uptight but just relax and be there to support her, u cant make her happy, and dont attempt because sometimes, trying to make someone happy while they are down can be misconstrued as not caring enough..

A good strategy is to change the topic into something funny or humorous. You can also change to stimulating mini games such as cards.
Exercises in general reduces stress and miserable feelings, so I would recommend you guys pick up a 2- people hubby, like tennis.

I guess I just empathize with them and ask them if they need a hug...sometimes we can't fix it for our friends but we can let them know there not alone and we care. You sound like a neat friend and she's lucky to have you. Good Luck.
