All my life I have feared the man. But more recently i'm just more intimidated by his presense and the fear of him judging me. I'm more physically prowl now. But he still has his psychological effect on me. I get submission, and as a result. I'm shy and lack self-esteem.

You are not shy and don't lack self esteem! You are a good respectful son and deep down you know that your dad has your back! He wants you go out and exercise what he's taught you. Stand up to the world like he stood up to you! Intimidate the world into submission...he want's you to succeed!!! Sounds like your on your way! Go get 'em tiger! Grrrrrrrrr!!!

will depend on how old you are to what you can do back. every man has a weakness, he might like to seem almighty powerful and act all mean & defensive if you go in his bad books but unless its serious he still loves you so there lies his weakness. challenge him and don't back down. he will accept it after awhile. you make the threats, none of them have to be real but a family under different roofs get on much better than under 1. its a fact, its what leads to children leaving home and even a divorce. - discuss with other family members about leaving for awhile or maybe permanently because of him, the message will soon get back to him, if he confronts you, tell him straight, but never get nasty. there are a 1001 tricks to this game as your not the only one. Man likes power, what better example can he show that off than on his children where he knows they are dis-advantaged. Look it up more, you can ignore him, prove him wrong every time you can etc etc etc it goes on forever.

Well in my family ,I had a abusive father but I knew I could take him in a fight never did always took the beating later in his last days Ifound out he wanted me to stand up to him and even beat him down once he said it wouldve proved to him and myself that I could take care of myself and hed of respected me more as a man ,I too lack self esteem and shy I belive that if thats your dad in the picture he too is OLD school and may belive that way if you still have your mom around take her aside or to lunch and ask her if thats something they talk about then do what you belive to be right just dont carry it with you as I did

The same thing happens with me and my dad. I know in a fight I can take him out but its just a matter of respect and there's nothing wrong with that.

maybe he just lieks u sometimes its hard to show. u should ask him if he wants 2 see a movie i bet he will be very releved that u liek him 2 u never know maebye it could go al the way!
just remember it cna be hard to show ur feelings if ur afraid of rejecton so make sure to make the ffirst move he will be VERY thankful i asure u!
also u should be flaterd he likes u!!! even if u dont liek him
