I think as humans we are inherently lazy. We are always thinking of the now and what we want to do now. And doing work for something that seems far off (and so is something that we don't see as having to do) is not very appealing. I think that's the same reason we are often more externally motivated than internally motivated. Really, would you ever do a research paper if you didn't have to in order to get a good grade? Some people might, but they are rare and far between. Plus, they are probably the ones who never procrastinate in the first place and have their huge term paper done within the first day or two of the semester.

I don't know if I would say that we "love" it, as procrastination only makes us work harder to catch up, but it is easier to tell ourselves we will have plenty of time to do something, so we put it off to do something else! Then all of a sudden time catches up with use and we run around frantically trying to get done what should of got done earlier!
I do it all the time and it gets me in a lot of trouble!

I don't know. It's a bad habit I seriously need to break! I kid myself into thinking that if I procrastinate something long enough either it will go away or if it must be done, it'll be done better if I put it off longer because I have no time to do it over.

Well technology isn't always a good thing; its made us all at least a little bit lazy. We just don't want to do things unless they're absolutely necessary.

Because we are pleasure-seekers, so we put off that which is not pleasurable in favor of that which is. I know people who reward themselves for work accomplished (they are masters of their inner dog), but for myself I tend to reward myself for doing nothing at all (pass that slice of pie, sir).

We only love it if we procrastinate.
We hate it if everyone else does.
