Ok so i setup a co2 container but i have a small tank. I was/am going to buy a bigger one so it holds more co2 and lasts longer. How big should i go and how long do they last. Like will a 10 pound tank last 4 months or longer or what?

Depends on a lot of factors: the size of your aquarium, the carbonate hardness of your water (kh), the intensity of your lights, and how many plants. A 10lb cylinder lasts close to a year in my 46g tank. Go to www.plantedtank.net and check out the forums. There are many helpful people there. Use the forum search tools and read some of the articles and stickies before posting quesions though. Good luck

10 lbs should be quite enough. How big is your tank? If it's less than 50 gallons, it should last you a year unless you're injecting a lot of CO2. To give you an idea, I have a 3 lbs canister on an 85 gallon tank and it lasts 4 months, and that's at about 2 bubbles per second.

If you want to go 20, go for it, but 10 should be ample. I've seen very few hobbiests with anything bigger than 10 lbs.

How long it will last depends on how many bubbles you put in, but I'd say it would reasonably last between 8 and 12 months, because if your tank is small, 1-1.5 b/s will be enough.
