Consider a major in international studies or economics with a minor in a foreign language. Or join the peace corps during or after college.

But you can major in anything and still do a study abroad semester if your university offers it. Sometimes they offer it only to specific majors, like English or Architecture, but that's generally when a university is first starting such a program. Eventually they usually open it up to other students. It is, in most cases though (as far as I know), more expensive than regular semesters. But don't let that discourage you. Check with program and your department - they might have some financial aid or scholarship if you need it.

Actually, I just checked, and I'm not sure you even need your university's Study Abroad program to do it. There's info on this in this link:

You can also do the Semester at Sea Program. That'll allow you to see lots of places in a short period of time.

You know what though? No matter what you study, chances are (at least for most majors I can think of), you can find a way to do work overseas. You can teach English abroad, find work in a developing country, or do student work abroad:

You can study Speech Language Pathology and Audiology and work with kids who have speech or hearing issues in developing countries. Or, for instance, if you're getting a degree from an American /British/western country university, because of their huge diversity in options of majors, a country you're interested in might have a lack of professionals in that field, which leaves lots of job opportunities for you. Do research on a field that you love, keep your eye on the ball, and chances are you can find work in your field overseas. But even if it's not in your field, it'll still broaden your horizons.

It's great that you're considering an international career. That already shows that your pretty fearless, but take precautions. Be patient if things don't work out right away. The world is your oyster girl! There's lots of avenues to having an international career. I hope you have lots of fun and many adventures!
