Crichton's stories tend to span a few days or a few weeks, total. There is little room for the unnecessary. The novels read fast and easy - often leaving you wanting more - the characters , they're chock full of research/knowledge, they cross into very intriguing subjects and often have complex characters that the reader doesn't need to know everything about but feels as if they do.
I particularly like the novels with a good deal of science-fiction elements.
The novels also translate fairly well into movies.
Favorite book? I liked Andromeda Strain, but it was a short book. I have to pick Jurassic Park because size did matter.

My favorite(s) was State of Fear followed by Disclosure (favoritism goes back and forth between these two). I get a little annoyed by Crichton's kick for writing cautionary tales, but those two in particular addressed some pretty nasty social epidemics going on at the time of their publication. Jurassic Park was alright, but for pure enjoyment and storytelling (which Crichton rarely does just for the pure sake of storytelling), Eaters of the Dead is downright awesome.

I in no way examine Harry Potter myself, as i became already an man or woman by technique of the time that got here out. yet listed below are some truly large books I loved in severe college (and my friends too). Dune Animal Farm The Hobbit The Lord of the rings The Fountainhead if you're up for some horror, HP Lovecraft is a carry close of horror literature and is no longer ordinary fluff examining like Harry Potter may be. it truly is deep, complicated, and terrifying. Many a smooth ideas has been formed by technique of the memories of Lovecraft. if you're into more suitable non-fiction and modern books, then you definately could lookup some conflict memories from Iraq and Afghanistan. listed below are some that I particularly have examine: One Bullet Away -- first hand account written by technique of a Marine infantry officer evening attracts close to -- % up and private memories of Iraqis before and after the invasion. truly some the chapters concentration on babies and children. era Kill -- became made into an HBO miniseries. Written by technique of a Rolling Stone Reporter The Prince of the Marshes -- written by technique of a British guy despatched to regulate area of Iraq. If those books do not carry your interest, then no longer something will. yet they are severe, man or woman literature, and in no way something like Harry Potter, it truly is targeted more suitable in route of babies.

It's hard for me to pick just one favorite among Chrictons's books, but the ones that jump to the head of the line are:
Jurassic Park
The Terminal Man
The Andromeda Strain
