Well, being a current med student, I think i can give a little insight. First off, I hope you aren't doing it to be rich. We go a quarter million in debt only to make 45 thousand our first few years in residency. Don't get me wrong, in the long run it pays off, and you will have a nice retirement, but there are better ways to get rich.
I would say get a job as an EMT or CNA when you are older. The more exposure you have to patient care will tell you whether or not it is for you.
Next, how much do you like school? I hope a lot, because it is a lot of work. I hate going to class and I am here anyway. Some people come to med school and realize it is more than they can handle.
If you really want to get into it, work hard in college to get good grades and do well on the MCAT, get that patient care experience, and you'll do fine. Best of luck to you.
