Who:
The main cast:

Leaf village:

Naruto - a VERY obnoxious "ninja" who is not bound by the laws of physics; mouth moves faster than brain, Sasuke moves faster than mouth. Usually ends up in serious trouble.

Sasuke - name means "ninja warrior". Somehow the partner of Naruto; the two vowed to accomplish their dreams together or something like that. Almost apotheosized by his peers; clearly an expert. Usually acts first, then thinks. Seems a bit vain, really. The strong, silent type.

Sakura: Usually follows the other two around (and keeps them in line). Thinks before she acts. Not an expert kunoichi but without her, the other two wouldn't be there at the rate they're going on.

Kokashi Sensei: the name says it all. I like to joke that "sensei" means "a worthless person who follows Shinobi around and watches them get defeated" because of him.


Sand village:

Gara: Gives people a hard stare kind of like a human basilisk. Known for the weird sand grains floating around him which give him such power. Much feared.

Choji: The fat guy who always manages to come up with a bag of chips no matter where he is. Always a bit clueless, really, and usually just "there". Known for the Jutsu where he inflates himself and rolls over things - I'M NOT JOKING.

Ino: A really hot-headed friend of Sakura's. Is it any coincidence that her name means "pig"?


Other:

Kabuto: no matter how much he studies, he always flunks the exam, it seems. As a result, very knowledgeable.



When: somewhere in semi-medieval Japan?

What: The main plot is that it is based on the concept of a mythical-style, magic-using ninja who has a code of ethics instead of the silent assassin we're all used to, and features several warring states, a village in each one. Another important aspect of the plot is that the ninjas have this academy, sort of, where they learn the arts of Ninjutsu.

Main Characters:Uzumaki Naruto - He is the main character of the story. A long time ago a demon fox was sealed inside of him to protect the Village of Konoha. He uses the demon's power to help him fight his opponents. Naruto was treated as an outcast throughout his childhood. He is outgoing and a bit foolish especially around hot girls. Nevertheless he is totally devoted to protecting his friends and people important to him.
Uchiha Sasuke - The "Ultimate Rival" of Naruto, he is the lone survivor of the Uchiha clan. He is a loner who keeps to himself even though he is in all the attentions of the girls in the Academy. Sasuke has no time to trouble himself with such matters because he has sworn to avenge the brutal murders of his clan. He has the Sharingan, a special trait of the Uchiha clan, which allows him to copy and use other ninjas' Ninjutsu, Genjutsu and sometimes even Taijutsu.Haruno Sakura - The female of the team, she always tries to get Sasuke to notice her. Her "Ultimate Rival" for Sasuke is Yamanaka Ino, a fellow female Shinobi. She is considered weak in Ninjutsu but has very good Genjutsu perception and chakra control. And for the summoning info :The summoning techniques in Naruto require the user to sign an ancient scroll in their own blood and end the signature with a handprint, also in their blood. As the series progresses, we see more and more characters performing the Kuchiyose no Jutsu (summoning technique) and each character seems to have their own animal. As of now the species we have seen in the series include snakes, frogs, slugs, spiders, dogs, monkeys, turtles, weasels, resurrected humans, an inanimate gate, a sword and blind humanoid guardians.I didn't write down all the characters b/c there's so many of them,but the site I listed is really good.It basically has all you need to know.Glad to help ya out.I'm an all anime fan anyway.

Hmmm...

Naruto - By far the stupidest character - although he is the main one. He likes to make copies of himself.
Sakura - Has trouble realizing how much of an *** Sasuke is... but she has a huge crush on him. Naruto has a crush on her.
Sasuke - Linked to Orochimaru, went to him for power. He is now considered "evil" by many.
Kakashi - The first one to train Naruto, Sakura, and Sasuke all at once. He can be very calm and likes to read a naughty book.. I forget what it's called.

Ino - Strongly disliked by Sakura, and she hates her back. She likes Sasuke, too, and considers herself to be sexy.
Choji - The fattest character. He is always eating, and calling him fat is considered a taboo. He's just... "chubby"..
Shikamaru - The lazy emo.. "it's too troublesome."

Kiba - The animal freak... loves his dog, Akamaru.
Hinata - Very shy, has a crush on Naruto.
Shino - Creepy dude. Has a lot of bugs.
Neji - A top student, like Sasuke. Very serious.

Rock Lee - Has very bushy eyebrows and is extremely strong.

Sasuke's past - He has always wanted his dad to accept him, just like how he accepted his older brother, Itachi. He is now rivals with Itachi and wants to kill him.
Naruto's past - Born with a demon inside him, he has been feared by many children and made fun of. He wants people to recognize him.
Sakura's past - She was always called "forehead girl" because of her wide forehead. Sakura used to be friends with Ino until they realized that they both like Sasuke.
Gaara's past - As a child, he was always called a monster. He killed many people because of his frustration and painful memories. He said that the only pain he ever felt was the harsh emotional pain in his heart.
Rock Lee's past - He has always wanted to become a strong ninja through hand-to-hand combat only. His determination is like no other.
