What is the best place to visit in Greece. My husband and I are planning a tryip to Greece this summer and we wanta know where is the best place we are thinking b.t Santorini & Athen's. Can someone give me a comparison of the two places. I know one is more beachy I believe. Also if you can give me some 5-7 STAR hotel names in both Athen's and Santorini. I wanta stay at the best hotel there. Thanks.

Athens and Santorini are not comparable. Athens is a big city, with important monuments and museums that you must not miss. They are the most important monuments of one of the most advanced civilisations ever.
Santorini is a small island, created by a submerged volcano, it is the place considered lost Atlantis, because the volcanic eruption destroyed a town which you can now visit at Akrotiri. It is a wonderful landscape, has nice beaches and the oicturesque architecture of greek islands.
It is a good choice to go to the islands mostly in the summer, but you must not miss Athens, at least for a couple of days. I'd say fly to Athens, go to the Acropolis, Plaka and a couple of museums for 2-3 days, then fly to Santorini, stay there for 3-4 days, and that;s the best choice.
The best hotels in Athens are Hilton and Grande Bretagne (you can find them on the internet). They are quite expensive though, a good choice (design hotel) in a nice sophisticated area would also be www.periscope.gr. For Santorini check on the internet. you'll find many, prefer to stay in the towns Oia or Firostefani, quieter, nicer and with amazing views.

You can not compare the capital of Greece with Santorini.
It all boils down to what you want. If you are in museums and stuff, antiquities culture etc then Athens is the place for you.
If on the other hand you want to have fun in the Mediterranean sun Then Santorini is one of the places for you. Santorini has some hotels to literally blow you away. But it has no beaches to speak off. Mykonos is also a wild place with incredible beaches and amazing hotels. If you need someone to organize this for you email Irene at "yachtsgr@otenet.gr"

Avoid Athens during summer. Its too hot and you don't want to spent your vacations in traffic jams. Santorini is beautifull. You should stay either at Fira (Theira) or Oia . As for hotels you will easily find on the inernet once you search for "Santorini"
