Do you mean will the state take your federal refund to pay back child support? If that is the question the answer is the state will take the refund, if they know it is due to you. My experience is that they are sloppy about registering SS numbers in most states and the may not get the money. It is better to enter into a payment agreement with the state agency and see if you can get the state out of the picture. See about getting some local legal advice. Best Wishes to you.

Yes they can. You may want to check out your child support agreement. In some cases, if one parent owes back child support, they also loose the priviledge of claiming the child during that tax year, even if it is the year they are allowed to (when using alternate years with the other partner).

that usually depends on the state you live in. some states take the whole refund, and others put you in jail or take your license. good luck
