Simple answer, you can't! They aren't available here in Australia, and there is no importing of any sort of animals at all. Perhaps you should consider a native aussie as a pet? Ringtail possums, sugar gliders, dunnarts, etc.... I also live in SA and am a wildlife carer. Consider getting involved with a group like Native Animal Network. We can help you learn how to care for and then acquire a native to keep as a pet. http://www.communitywebs.org/NativeAnimalNet/default.htm There have been many studies done regarding the successful release of wildlife orphans. Most don't make it! In SA the law actually forbids the release of any animal or bird that has become humanised. I have many many animals living with me that are from the wild, and that would be dead if me or someone like me wasn't prepared to give them a life long home. These animals weren't just randomly taken from the wild. They are either the survivors of road accidents or other mishaps that have left their parents dead or the animal abandoned. And I can guarantee you that they are very happy content little beasties.

What's wrong with leaving wild animals alone and getting a domesticated pet? Wild animals don't do well in homes or they would have moved in with us like the dog did.
