BOTH cannot happen at the same time !AS for ur CD rom you can use the emergency button a tiny hole below the CR tray use a pin to push in for emergency retrieval of ur CD stuck in the CD rom.Dont use your hand manually to push the tray inside when CDROM opens this damages the mechanism .If you CDROM is old service it but since your new to this i recommend you not to DIY !As for your monitor going red there is a tiny cable snap in ur VGA cable
you see inside the cable there is color combination of RGB(Red,Green,Blue)maybe there is a short circuit between the wire!This problem only gets worste !The best way out is resoldering the VGA cable with a new DB-15 connector!

check the cable connecting your monitor and pc.. If its damaged or something like that the problem may be due to that.. My monitor becomes greenish if my oc table moves even a little(in my case the wire is damged..) regarding the d drive there may be some fault if its to old..

I don't say it may not be due to some viruse or like that..
