my sister just recently had a run in with dcs. in which she had left her child in the car for no more than five minutes. they wanted her to comply with what they had told her. She has called them and tryed to call them and keep in touch but she recently moved in with me and we live in a two bedroom house and they are staying on my floor. Which is unacceptable to dcs. So we dont know what to do because now they r calling her phone and wanting to know where she and the kids are at. She is working on getting her own place but doesnt want to call them and let them take her kids from her. what should we do because we know that she needs to comply but dont want her kids taken away just for living with me.

I disagree with disconnecting the phone. They will say that she was not complying with the case plan, and that can be grounds for removing the children. She needs to keep in close contact with her caseworker. Yea, it is a pain in the butt, however, if it helps her keep her kids isn't it worth it? The children need beds. What about a hide a bed, or anything that could be set up and folded up during the day. As long as the place is clean, you are not on a federal registry for crimes against a child, and she is working the plan and keeping in contact, I cannot see why they wouldn't work with her while she finds her own place.

I'm pretty sure they don't care what you guys sleep on or where. It's the kids that have to have a bed and a bedroom. Here's hoping that her kids are all the same sex. If not then both rooms MUST go to the kids. Each child has to have it's own bed. A mattress that is not on the floor and sheets on the bed. A blanket and a pillow. That should do it. The adults are the ones that have to be put out of the beds and bedroom. Sorry. I know you're trying to help but if they catch up to her or the neighbors or even the kids let it be known that they are on the floor then someone will notify the agency again and they will catch her once again. I would suggest roll away beds or a sofa bed type thing for the adults. The kids can't sleep with an adult either. Not even in the same room.
By the way, you never EVER leave your kids in a car. You don't let them out of your sight. Plain and simple. It's called being responsible. This could have all been avoided.

If you do not comply they will take her kids, plain and simple. Maybe you don't have enough room, or you are a slob, or whatever, but if she cannot live there with the kids, she can't and needs to move. She needs to update her caseworker before a petition is filed for dependency and the children are placed into foster care. Oh and tell you sister not to leave her kids in the car, thank God someone else didn't grab them. What a horrible parent, I mean really in this day and age, you have to be kidding me, I don't even like when dogs are left in the car let alone children. Comply and get them out of your life.

She needs to disconnect that phone. There is no way in finding her if shes living with you and if they cant find her for a specific amount of time, they need to close the case.
