I want to celebrate it in style but don't know what kind of party to have or what to serve. I'm about out of time, aren't I?

Guinness is the sweet, sweet nectar of the Gods/Leprachauns/St James's Gate etc etc, Kilkenny is alright (not as good as Guinness), Baileys good as is Jameson Irish whiskey - oh baby, I want to celebrate now! Celebrate by drinking as much of these, go to an Irish pub, make friends with the local irish backpackers, tell them you love them, get more cheerful and somehow wake up in your own bed without knowing how you got here!

My Father is Irish and the way that we observed St. Patrick's Day when I was growing up was to have everything green (food wise) on this day.
I would buy green bagels for breakfast. I would also make either green cupcakes or a full cake, also colored green with food coloring, and for dinner we would have a boiled dinner of ham, cabbage & potatoes.

It depends on who the party's for, but you can look around the grocery stores already for the green bakery items, green chips, Irish beer or Irish cream liquer, or even corned beef (with cabbage) if you plan on cooking. I may try Irish stew this year, myself. Last year I got the tri-colored rotelli pasta and sorted out the orange pieces so there was only green and white left, then used it to make a pasta dish with bell peppers and parmesan. It was Italian, but green! Spinach dip is another good idea.

since it is on a saturday, go to my mom's have cornec beef, cabbage,carrots and potatoes. then i have to go to work for 8 hours. then come home and fix green beer for my husband
