Now i am a Duke a fan, just to get that out there, but i am curious to know who so many people hate Duke. if you can please clarify this for me that would be great. Lets keep this educated as well, i want real reasons, or experiences, all the people who talk like five year olds ruin the credit of all the other people who actually have real reasons to hate Duke. if your going to talk like that dont bother leaving any response

A lot of people are jealous of success. Duke is wildly successful and will generate ill-will simply for that reason, rivalries aside. Coach K is one of the best and was taught by the best. As for Da Kid, who's thinking like a kid, and the rest of the Tarheels, Henderson may have been overly aggressive, but he didn't hit Hansbrough purposely, and Hansbrough himself stated on ESPN that he didn't think Henderson did it intentionally. I'm not a Duke fan and love it when they play IU. Duke deserves respect, and they have earned it. Tarheel fans are just pissed because they have blown so many championships and have to blame somebody.

I'm a Kansas alum ... we've not had Duke's success, but we've done relatively well. I don't hate Duke, but I've never rooted for them either. The Blue Devils have had some great (collegiate) players--Amaker, Brand, Dawkins, Hill, Hurley, Laettner, Langdon--but Johnny Dawkins was the only one I liked.
I honestly don't know why I've never pulled for Duke. North Carolina has also had more success than KU--they even lured our former coach from Lawrence (Kansas)--but I root for them on occasion. Perhaps I don't support Duke because their basketball players are ultra-talented AND ultra-smart--McDonald's All-Americans who absolutely blew-up the SAT. That would explain why I don't root for Stanford either ...

I go through the same thing as a Laker fan. When your team experiences success as long as the Lakers and Duke have people just start hating them. People are always gunning for those on top. (except for this year)

Well, I'm a Carolina fan and I think that we hate Duke because both teams are good and both are competitive and whoever wins in basketball has bragging rights until the next UNC - Duke game... and I'm not stirrin' old blood but Gerald Henderson hit Tyler Hansbrough on purpose!!!!!!!!!!!!
P.S. Also, I think that Duke has so much history behind their program that other schools and fans are jealous... all except CAROLINA fans!!!!!!!!!!!!

No offense, but I'm a Heel fan and that's why I dislike Duke. It doesn't help that both teams are always good. It doesn't help that both teams recruit the same talent. And, you can't be a Carolina fan and like Duke.

I didn't really hate Duke until just this last year, when the prosecution's case in the lacrosse player rape allegations came apart. The so-called "gang of 88" teachers who essentially threw the lacrosse players under the bus are the primary object of my hatred, which extends through them to the rest of the university community. (Except the actual accused players -- I feel pity for them.) So I see the university now as a place that excels in judging others before all the facts are in, maliciously prosecuting the innocent, and destroying the lives of people who have done nothing wrong.
With that in mind, it's real easy to hate Duke sports. (Again, except lacrosse.)

Now, I'm a Georgetown Hoya fan, and it's not as if Duke has stolen a title or beaten us on some awful call, I basically don't like Duke...well because no one else likes Duke.

I am Ky wildcat fan because Duke gets to many calls and if they don`t get the calls. Coach K cry`s like a baby about it and you can say they don`t but when they beat .Ky one year for the chance to go to the final four Lanter should have been thrown out of the game for steping on a Ky player on poures so thats way i hate Duke!

My wife (Kentucky Fan) can never get past that Laetner shot. Still hurts for her and almost kept her from going out with me. Some hate the preppy white kids, some are envious of continued success year after year.
