They have size for sure, nimble feet, strength, quickness, low sense of gravity, intelligence and the ability of moving people directionally. (Do you think this is just a bunch of hooey or what?)

Contrary to what some others have said Sumotori are incredibly strong and very fast. They are also very flexible, a Sumotori training regimen would be daunting to our NFL players. I think they would make very good interior linemen. It would be very difficult to recruit them because they hold such high status in Japanese society. Moving over to the NFL would be a huge step down the social ladder for them.

Hooey.A lot of factors go into a good lineman. Speed and strength are important but remember an offensive lineman can't grab his opponent or at least not legally.

alot of you obviously don't know sh!t about sumo(check your spelling there buddy). with proper training and coaching, most sumos would compete well with others in the NFL. chad rowen(Akebono) and fiamalu penitani(Musashimaru) started off as football players. they made the transition to sumo. they were arguably the best two guys in the sport when they were in their prime. who ever would've thought two local braddahs from hawaii would succeed the way they did in japan. both were promoted to the highest rank of Yokozuna. too fat? no stamina? sumos are probably in better shape than most linemen in the NFL. anyways, didn't any of you watch "The Replacements"? NAN DES KA!!?!!

i honestly dont know why some owners havent tried to recruit some sumo wrestlers. i guess one obstacle would be teaching the game of football. seeing that it isnt as big in other countries, especially far east countries, like its popularity here in the united states.

but they would be very capable of handling an OL or DL position.
