Why don't we hear more about them in the news? Are they the U.S. gov. secret weapon of miscelaneous distraction ?

LOL! I think US feels the same way about Canada, but maybe it's better to be out of the limelight these days - nothing but gore and blood these days. Stay quiet, I like the quiet people.
