How many wet diapers does the baby have a day? How often are you nursing? Do you hear the baby swallowing? Does the baby seem satisfied after nursing? Has your milk came in?
No matter what, I would contact the ped and LLL. You could be having supply issues and the baby isn't getting enough milk. Good luck!

Usually having no bowel movement for a day or two is considered normal if there are 6-8 wet diapers in a 24 hours.
Since your baby is only one week old and has had no stool since 2 days, you should make sure that she is getting enough feed.Sometimes babies who have not been feeding well may seem easier to care or will be very sleepy(watch out)
Colostrum has a laxative effect which helped the first few days. Now your milk must be coming in ,so your baby will be getting more fatty milk, which may also be the cause.
While breastfeeding listen for sucking followed by swallowing. If she is sucking vigorously but not swallowing after every 2-3 sucks then she may not be getting enough milk.Burp frequently in between feeding so that she will have that much more space in her tummy for milk instead of air! Generally babi3es feed better when they show hunger cues like smacking lips ,turning head to side and sucking than if they cry.
If your baby seems to be feeding well and has no gas pains or discomfort then there's no worry. For your personal satisfaction its a good idea to call your paediatrician.
My baby had such episodes during his first month. If it did not bother him we did not do anything. But sometimes he would get very fussy, have lot of gas and cry. After a good feed and burping we would gently flex his knees and make sounds of pushing down so he would push too.if that didnot work ,gently stimulate by inserting just the tip of a thermometer after applying vaseline on the tip.Trust me ,this does not hurt your baby(my wife is an RN).you need not push it more as you are not checking temp but only stimulating.
Another tip is for mother to drink fruit juice(fresh) .Doctors usually say that its normal for breastfed babies to have just 2 bowel movements per week. But if i were you I would just check it with the doc since the baby is just a week old.
Good luck for the fun with all the poopy times to come. The joy of seeing a full diaper is unexplainable(my wife feels very proud each time our son has a big poopy)!

I agree with Holly. It could be a supply issue. Our baby had this at about the same age, and the midwives were concerned that he might not be getting enough milk--wet diapers are an important thing to look for. If she has wet diapers, you know she's getting something and she's not dehydrated. But sometimes if our babies aren't getting enough milk they don't poop as often as there is little waste left over--body is using everything. So keep checking for those wet diapers. My widwife said that a bowel movement is the size of a dollar coin--it doesn't have to be loads of poop! 2 days isn't so bad, but if it continues for a few more days, I would consider pumping and "topping her up"--which means feed, top up, pump, rest, then feed, top up, pump, rest again. That's what we had to do as I did have supply issues--my milk didn't come in for 4 days and it took a while to get really 'full on'. So I rented a pump from the pharmacy and it helped with topping him up and with getting my supply up. Definitely feed on demand!
Also, I did have success with my baby by gently massasing his belly in a clockwise motion (belly meaning the part below his belly button), gently pushing his legs up to his chest, and then inserting a q-tip dipped in olive oil very gently about half a centimetre into his anus. Pretty soon a big huge poop happened! Sometimes they just need help knowing where they should be pushing and what muscles to push. It's all new to them!
Good luck.

what else is going on with this baby? Is nursing going well? by that i mean, can you see that there is milk? are your breasts feeling full ...occasionally you may see drips of milk...does baby seem satisfied? are you nursing often? often would be every two hours during the day and every 3 -4 hours at night....not timing baby on each side but letting her suck to satisfaction? is she having WET diapers? if she seems sated and is having WET diapers i think things are fine...she isnt constipated, typically, a breastfed baby has a stain ...like a squirt of mustard after (it seems like) every feeding or so....and after a while, a breastfed baby can go up to a week with no poops...its a perfect food after all....
If baby doesnt seem content, if there arent at least 6 wet diapers every day, your supply may not be all it can be....take the baby to bed with you and nurse, eat, drink and rest and dont do anything else....every time that baby so much as whimpers, latch her on.....Good Luck

I have breastfeed both of my children my daughter would go every time I feed her my son only goes once a week so, there is no need to worry. Every baby is different as long as the diapers are wet. It is concerning if this is your first. I couldn't understand what was going on with my son he was going every day the first week he was born and then slowed down. Talk to baby Dr. if the baby shows discomfort you will know.

It can happen sometimes...but if she has a fever or it seems to be hurting her (if she is extremely fussy or pulling her legs up to her body), or if her tummy looks bigger than normal get her to her doctor right away! As long as she is producing plenty of wet diapers, she is getting enough to eat...also make sure, if she isn't waking up to eat, that you wake her up to feed every couple of hours, if she isn't feeding well and just goes to sleep without eating, you should contact your doctor also...good luck and I hope things get to being "regular" for both of you...if you know what I mean! Congrats on your new baby!

The problem could be something your eating...remember whatever you take in your system is going into the milk your producing....I would suggest keeping track of what you eat...and maybe changing your diet for now.You must drink alot of milk....where I am from the older people would say drink alot of cocoa tea. This helps produce more milk. Stay away from beans and soda, that have in alot of acid and could cause the baby to get gas..when breats feeding you have to pay close attention to what you eat and drink.
I hope this helps a little.

I have a 6 month old baby and what I can say from experience is that each baby is different. Actually each person is different. if you are really concerned about your baby not passing any stools, you could try taking her temperature rectally, that seems to do the trick with my baby ( I think it stimulates his anal muscles)

The midwives I've seen do say it is normal for a breastfed baby to go for a few days without stools but if it is worrying you I would suggest ringing your doctor.

It's not so unusual. I could mark on the calendar the days my son would poop - every Sunday and Wednesday. Not every baby will have bowel movements every day. No need to worry, especially if she doesn't appear to be in pain or discomfort.
