I find this happens when it hasn't been put in far enough, though if that were the case you'd feel it right away.
When it happens after a few hours, either it's been tugged down (by bymnastics and the like) or it isn't a good fit for you and it's fallen down.
I would recommend a better brand of tampon.

well... it might be that the tampon was full. at any rate if it is slipping and you can feel it, take it out and replace it. it could be the opposite and that there isn't enough moisture and that oddly enough will cause slippage also. since this is your first time just listen to your body and if the tampon feels uncomfortable take it out. no reason to walk around feeling weird. you'll learn with experience what different feelings mean, and discomfort means explore the cause
look and see and you'll get the hang of it eventually, but don't ignore pain or irritation. oh and if it wasnt in far enough you would have felt that right away. i recommend using applicator types instead of your finger because you can use the depth of the applicator to determine whether its all the way in or not.

it was not up far enough. when it is in correctly you wont ever feel it at all. if you used one with an applicator make sure the applicater is in up to the first half where the finger grips are. then make sure you push the bottom half all the way into the half that is inside you. you won't be able to put it too far up so don't worry. if you are using a tampon with no applicater make sure you push it in the entire length of your index finger. don't worry you will get used to it. i did the same thing when i first used one.

Maybe it wasn't in far enough, but when you first using them it does tend to feel weird and different anyway. It's just trial and error the first few times...good luck

either it was in too far, not far enough, or it was time for it to come out. it could also be that it was too small unfortunately tampons are like men....you gotta search for the right one, but eventually youll find one your comfortable with

I would guess that it wasn't in far enough or you were using one that was too large.
Next time, make sure you get it further up or use a lighter one.
Good luck.
