Ok so tomorrow I will be making my MacBook purchase. But I can't make up my mind Black or White? Also should I upgrade to the 2GB? I'm using it mainly for school, and I travel a bit and like watching movies on my computers, I also do a little bit of video editing with home movies... so would the 1GB be enough?
Thanks!

White! I've heard from others (and seen) that the finish on the black MacBooks get a little nasty after a while. I just got my white one this week, and its great. White is the classic color for Macintosh notebooks, and I think it just looks better, maybe even cuter. Also most accessories, such as keyboards, mice, and even the power supply for it will be in white only, so if you want them to match you have little choice.

The black model has better specs on their webpage, but you can build a white one with the same configuration and it will cost less! You pay a premium for the black case, why bother?

I went with 2gb, and you probably should if you can afford it. If you can't you can always upgrade it later if you find you really need it.

according to risk this suggestions would be smart to you: those Apple zealots over at Macworld have been given their palms on a souped up white MacBook and found some thrilling consequences bearing directly to the MacBooks' performances. on an identical time because it somewhat is authentic which you will improve the white MacBook to make it comparable (likely) to the black MacBook, which incorporates the infamous $one hundred fifty value top rate, a number of their assessments chanced on that the white MacBook outperformed its greater high priced brother. some greater advantageous digging around chanced on the not easypersistent of the white MacBook to be the biggest element. on an identical time as the two fashions featured a 2.0-GHz Intel middle Duo processor and 5,4 hundred-RPM not undemanding drives, the white MacBook's did a greater effective job interior the Compressor MPEG-2 encoding attempt and in employing an iMovie clear out. Switching the black's not easypersistent with a quicker 7,2 hundred-RPM not easypersistent more suitable its overall performance, yet not fullyyt, basically remaining—not removing— the overall performance hollow on many of the assessments. examine out Macworld for the finished attempt results of all 3 fashions of the MacBook (black, a million.80 3-GHz and a pair of.0-Ghz white). the ethical of the story? quicker not undemanding drives equivalent greater effective overall performance, yet, out of the field, the white and black MacBooks are even closer to one yet another than previosuly theory. nonetheless prefer to pay $one hundred fifty for paint? Hi Megan J,

I imagine that I'm just repeating what other people are saying here. First off I've seen my friend's black MacBook Pros, and they seem to show fingerprints pretty easily. I've heard from other people that the white MacBook Pros show different types of dirt pretty easily too. So, I would fall back on the faster processors and bigger hard drives which is a better selling point for the Black.

If you're going to be doing video editing get the biggest hard drive that you can. You'll need it because video files eats that up pretty fast. Also, get the most RAM that you can possibly afford. Everything will work so much better with more RAM.

Congratulations on getting your MacBook Pro. I"m sure that you'll love what ever you get.

I would recommend the black mac book. It has a professional feeling to it, and doesn't give the cheap, plastic feeling of the white macbook (reminiscent of the IBook G4).

For video editing, upgrade to 2 GB Ram. your macbook will be able to handle a lot of stuff, and you'll be able to multi-task greatly with the combined RAM and Core 2 Duo power.

Unless you really need your Machine to be black(i had plenty of Black MACS) I would just upgrade the white one to the 2 gb's of ram. You can always get an external HD and it will be Cheaper then a CTO(config to order).
i have 1GB on my old eMac and have no problems with MOST movies, but I made sure i got 2 GB's on my Mac Mini...

Well the black MacBook is better than both of the white ones when it comes to its format (memory, etc.) which is why it is more expensive. The white ones look cleaner to me. Talk to someone at the Apple Store and they should tell you.
