I would like to build a workstation for my chop saw, but I am unsure of where to get plans. I was hoping to find free plans on the internet, but need to be pointed in the right direction.

With all due respect you truly don't need plans. I built one for mine, and added wheels.

Consider the depth of the saw (The footprint) and whether or not you want to bolt it down.

Build a Box of 1/2 inch or 3/4 plywood (sheathing even) long enough to accomodate the saw and some extra on the sides for whatever. I made mine 18 wide, 48 long, and 3 inches deep, then added a piece of ply to fit as a top.

Then I cut 2 x 4's at a height that allows a comfortable work situation. That certainly depends on how tall you are and at what height you feel most comfortable working with the saw.

I added bracing for stability all around and about 1 ft. off the floor I added a 3/4 plys shelf to fit the inside dimensions, and attached it with cleats.

On both sides I also added 1 x 4 pine framework the depth of the table that I drilled holes into and the legs. That allows an extension that can be adjusted up to the height of the Saw table plate, but removeable when not in use.

After the fact I added decent commercial type wheels that spin, so I can move the entire setup anywhere. I chose not to permanently bolt the saw to the table but it has clamps that I use.

You can likely use the chop saw for a major part of the construction and I used regular Drywall screws at appropriate lengths

PS. I also made the top removable from the legs since I take my chop saw to job sites.

there is an easier way..... i understand the need, and the want to build things, but the bottom line here is that you can buy a chop saw stand for $100 from Home Depot. by time you buy all the materials needed to build one you will have spent close to the same amount. they sell a couple of different stands there one is made by ryobi $100.00 the other is made by Rigid a little more money, but it has wheels, and is a fold down model.

good luck in your search
