Weird one. My laptop occasionally has problems connecting to secure sites (https) via my wireless network.

I troubleshot and found...

1. other PCs can access secure sites through my wireless network.

2. My laptop can access secure sites through other WAPs (like my neighbors)

3. My laptop can access secure sites when plug directly into my router.

4. Browser choice does not matter

The problem occassionally goes away, but then comes back. I am not a noobie, but have NO idea what is going on.

No solid ideas but a few things to try. Are you using WEP/WPA? If so, try with it off. Empty your cache and clear your cookies. When you get this problem, you need to see if it is the network or the browser, try these, open a cmd prompt and run a tracert to the site you are trying to access. Try an nslookup in a cmd prompt. Maybe anti spyware, anti phishing and popup blockers are taking too long to process the request, so the browser times out before completing. Sorry I don't have any solid ideas, these intermittent ones are the worst to fix.

Well it may be an issue with your routers firmware. I dont know what brand you have but go to the manufacturers website (whoever made it - like linksys.com dlink.com etc)
See if there is an upgrade to the firmware for your router.
If there is load the update and see if the problem goes away.

You might also have a mismatch between your wifi card on your computer and the routers wifi. It isnt supposed to happen but it does. I had a card - wont state the name which would refuse most of the time to connect to anything through my Buffalo router. I changed to a different brand and the problems were all gone. I can still use that no-name card with a different router but it and the buffalo just didnt like each other.. Probably a personnality conflict :)

Can you access the SAME secure site through your neighbor's wireless network that you can't access through yours?
