I have a Slim PS2, and a laptop. I want to connect my laptop to my PS2 to play online gaming. How do I do this? What settings do I need to put and use to make it work. I also have a wireless/cable router. Ok. calm down.

you need to connect your ps2 to the router via an ethernet cable. Then you need to use the network access disc to setup an account on your ps2. If you don't have one you can get one for free from Sony.

You shouldn't have to toggle any settings if you can already go online with your laptop.

Then of course you need an online compatible game.

A PS2 can be connected to a PC (laptop or desktop) via an Ethernet Crossover cable. I've done that to share my Laptop's wireless internet connection with my PS2 without a wireless adapter. (You'll need WinMe or better on the computer to do the internet connection sharing.)

Connecting to the router directly via an Ethernet Patch cable (not a crossover cable, though some can use both) is another option, if the router has an open ethernet port on it and if it's close enough to the PS2.

Patch cables are for use with a router, crossover cables are for computer to computer connections. Though, as I mentioned, some routers can also use crossover cables.
