Note the "the" at the beginning. Just "Reverend" is formally incorrect. (Incidentally, it's also "The Honorable. . . "

Titles before proper names and after proper names use standard abbreviations.
Capitalize titles of persons when used as part of of a proper name but usually not when used alone.
Hence, when refering to a specific clergyman there are a large number of titles that can be used depending which member of the clergy.
e.g. (Latin exempli gratia, "for example")
Rev.Joe Stone of the First Baptist Church.
Father Brown of St John.
We also use The Pope vs the pope or by proper name and title Pope Gregory Xlll.
