Can I replace the 60 amp fuses with 50 amp fuses to match the double pole 50 amp breaker at the service panel? yes it is 220v.

Yes you can , the fuses are just a back up to the breaker in fact you dont even need fuses at the ac just a disconnect switch.

No need to replace those 60 amp. Why do that anyhow and create an unneeded nusiance for yourself?

That 60 is proper for a 50 amp breaker as you want the breaker to flip first and NOT blow the fuse. The fuse is to be larger than the breaker always.

The fuse is a "just in case" and if the load is high that 60 amp will pop in case the breaker freezes and wont.

Yes you can and should. It could be dangerous to have higher rated fuses on line with lower rated mains.

Typically 60A for an air conditioner is too big. Check the unit, it will tell you the proper rating. Do not use one larger or you will defeat the protection and risk fire.
