Just like the First answerer said sweetie, your problem can be fixed with repetition and practice. You are probably not landing in the same spot on yer step forward and i definitly think that you are probably not consistent with yer release point, since that is usually what keeps most softball pitchers from throwing the ball straight. Because youre new to it, and im assuming yer new to the game, you are probably releasing the ball too early or too late... im guessing yer ball is either too high or too low? If thats the case, you need to concentrate on releasing the ball in the same place over and over. And that will only come with, thats right, PRACTICE lol, sorry, but its true. As for Speed of Delivery or pitch, the more you learn yer whind up and release, the more confident you will become in putting everything you have into the pitch and the power and speed will come. Hope this helps.

You aim is an ability that does come with practice.. I taught my sister by pitching a target at 10 feet (for accuracy) then, I increased the intervals by 5 feet each day until she was 5 feet beyond the regulation distance to the plate. Then I worked on the arch.. They took home the championship trophy the following year.

Since Practicing is stupid - try practicing correctly. With a coach to check your mechanics, it could be that you have a fundamental problem like opening your hip too soon or lifting your head or a grip problem.
Unfortunately there is no magic answer that you can get from here that will solve this problem. Mechanics have to be adjusted by site - and practice.
Film yourself from different angles so you can review your mechanics. It is more difficult to get a video role model for softball than it is to tape a pro baseball player. But if you can find video of a good pitcher with a similar motion you can compare your mechanics and motion.

Of course you know that good mechanics are going to make you faster and more accurate. Be sure that you're opening up enough because if you close too soon it will take speed off. The distance of your stride also affects speed, basicly the longer your stride the better your speed will be. When I pitched and was having a really off day as far as accuracy it was usually because I was stepping to far to the left on my stride. You want to make sure that you're stepping straight towards the catcher, and your drag should be only slightly curved. If it is almost a 'C' shape you're falling off too far to one side. Hopefully this helps, if you don't really understand what I'm talking about or want to ask me something e-mail me. Bigeyedfreak127@yahoo.com
