In my view friendship is a form of love, at least true friendship. The main difference is that there is (usually) no romantic or sexual element to a friendship, whereas with (romantic) love, both are essential. But the other aspects -- affection, loyalty, concern, willingness to sacrifice, are the same. Of course this does not apply to casual acquaintencships, which can be pleasant. But true friendship, like true love, is both precious and rare. As far as choosing, I choose both. I'm greedy .

You can't have love without friendship, they go hand in hand. Whether it is a husband or a good friend. I love my husband and certainly want that above all things. But, he is also my best friend. I certainly don't want him as my only friend, and I am lucky to have some very good friends, and I love them too. It may be a different type of love, but again, one must exist to have the other. True you can have friendships without love, but then they are not deep friendships. So, in a way I guess it would be friendship that counts the most, as it leads to love.
I hope you understand my circular logic

I would rather have friendship cause with friendship u always have love and it takes sooo long to find "true love" when dealing with love - u could have many "loves" in a lifetime but friendships last for a lifetime

Is this not a contradiction? If you love someone you have already established a friendship. True friendship contains love. Now if you mean friends over a lover. I would choose the lover only if they were the person I intended to spend the rest of my life with. Because you life partner is your best friend.

Both are equally as precious because if you are a friend, you also love. True? I love all of my friends. There is no difference between friendship and love because they both go hand in hand. :) My husband or lover is also my friend. Where do you draw the line? Love is love and that covers all forms of friendship too. Can't have one without the other.

By the way, for those who say you don't need love, they lie because fact is, humans curl up and die without love. They have done extensive studies on babies who were left to their own defenses without love, not touched, not cuddled and those babies had nothing to live for and did not thrive. Figure it out. We all need both love and friendship. It really doesn't take a genius to figure that out. Those of you who say you don't need love are not telling the truth about the fact that somebody loved you enough to make you smart enough to be computer literate to be on here to post an answer to this question without you going out and sniping total strangers because love wasn't important. If you are here on this planet, somebody loved you enough to give you life and guess what, in my eyes? THAT IS IMPORTANT ENOUGH TO MAKE YOU GO ON WITH YOUR LIFE. Peace, out!!!!

They go together for me. True Friendship involves love.
BUT!!!
There is no Love stronger or Deeper for me than the Love I have for my Children. That is worth more than anything in this World and I would not choose anything else!!!

Friendship can lead to sex and other good things, love is a person's strong desire. Which can be good or bad. So I think friendship is a better bet.
