Read your manual. It should tell you how to log in to your router and check or change your settings. Most all wireless connection utilities will report access points as being secure or unsecure. Secure means you need a password (or something to that effect) and unsecure means you don't need a password.

Sometimes unsecure access points will have MAC filter enabled meaning only certain computers can log on (if your MAC address is loaded in the router).

your wireless router..? did you set a password?

double click the wireless icon and view available networks and it will tell you if it is secure or not

when you turn on your wireless modem in your coimputer and do a network surch if you see a lock symbol on the one that is yours what ever the name is it's protected
